User profile problem
Hello All,
I hope my explanation of the problem I am having is clear enough to understand.
3 Days ago, just after a windows update my laptop started to play up, to the point where my user profile would not load. Instead it kept loading me with a temporary profile.
To try and resolve this I restored the system to a point when I knew it wasn't having this problem. After doing that my profile returned but 50% of my files and folders were still missing and I haven't been able to retrieve them.
When I click on Start and type one of the file or folder names into the search bar I can see the documents in the start menu window but when I click on them I get the following message:
C:\Users\myname\Desktop\etc\etc\etc refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.
I take full responsibility for not backing up but I have definately learned from my mistake. If anyone could suggest anything that would help me retrieve those files I would be very grateful. I do have some very important files that I have lost and really need to get back.
Thank you in advance
Craig.
