Vista freezing in normal mode
Hi Guys,
I run Vista Business on a Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop with 4gb of memory since approx 8 months. So far everything was fine. 2 days ago the OS was freezing and no CTL-ALT-DEL was working anymore so had to press the Off button to shut-down the system.
System come back in normal mode but freezes after 10 min. When starting in safe mode I can work (limited) on the laptop but not applications and printers etc. are available.
Went through the forums and recommendation and start running the SFC command /scannow. In both modes (Safe and normal) this utility freezes at 84%! Only help is to press the switch off button.
I booted from CD to check virus but the system is 100% clean.
I do not have any hardware problem too.
Problem seems to be a corruption of some system files.
I have the recovery DVD which came with the laptop and saying that this DVD is only for distribution with the a new Fuhitsu Siemens computers only. I booted from this DVD and made a restore which didnt help. A repair also didnt help! Same problem, since the laptop will freeze in normal mode.
Since I have many applications I do not want to reinstall the laptop and lose my data although I have a backup of the most important data.
Wonder if anyone can help as I lost so much time on this issue.
THANKS
Mike
I have the log of the CBS file generated by SFC.
