help!! Vista to SBS 2005 & SQL Server 2005 express
Hi

I have a small network: the server is running Microsoft SBS 2003 with two laptops running vista and a desktop running vista (all business versions and with SP1 installed). The machines are all up to date.

I recently installed SQL Server 2005 express (part of Business Contact Manager).

In the Network locations folder of all of the Vista based Machines, the server share has now disappeared - I have been able to add a direct share to a folder by using the link "add network location" in Computer on the Vista Machines. However, the server itself is not visable in Network.

I tried to recover the share in Network, but was unsuccessful, so I tried uninstalling SQL Server 2005 express and the share showed up again!

Leaving SQL server off is not an option as I need BCM. I guess there is a setting in SQL server that is blocking the view of the server in Network but I cannot see it.

We are using a netgear router and Bitdefender Internet Security firewalls - could it be that a port needs opening? I am not sure which should be opened however.

I would be grateful if anyone could help.

Regards

JON
