i accidentally disabled my spdif device..

Help out this idiot please. I was tinkering with the sound stuff of my laptop and accidentally pressed disable for my spdif output device (or something like it). Now it's gone. How do I restore it? I wasn't the one who programmed my computer and all so I'm totally clueless.

And to hammer in some more how much of an idiot I am, because I tinkered around stuff I know nothing about (the sound and volume stuff), now when I download music, it's all in epub format. It's always been in MP3 format. How do I get back to MP3 format? I can't download stuff, wah.

Please, please, help!
