Re: Problem installing SP1 (.NET Framework 3.5)
Hi,
Try the following:
First do a chkdsk /f, schedule it for next restart, followed by reboot.
Then, search microsoft.com for.net 2.0 redistributable (dotnetfx.exe)
Download it and try reinstalling it.
If it works, search microsoft for .net 3.5 sp1 (dotnetfx35setup.exe)
Download it and try reinstalling it.
Good luck

I am trying to upgrade my Vista to WIndows 7. In order to do that I need to install SP1 first. However, I continue to get an error code 57 when Windows Update tries to install the .NET Framework v3.5 (KB951847).
I am currently running Vista Home Premium 32-bits.
I have tried to de-install prior versions of .NET framework, but there are no entries in my list of installed programs.
I have also found articles that describe how to determine which version of .NET FW I have installed. It seems I have v2.0.50727.3603.
I have folders for
- v1.0.3705
- v1.1.4322
- v2.0.50727
- v3.0
But only the v2.0 folder contains the mscorelib.dll
The .NET cleanup tool doesn't work; it doesn't de-install .NET v2 under Vista.
I am at loss. Does anyone have any clues as to what I can do to get SP1 installed?
Thanks in advance,
Mark.
