Skype Crashing On Vista

We have three computers using Vista, and after 18 months, suddenly Skype just crashes on all three. This includes Vista Ultimate and home versions. Research shows that neitherSkype or Microsoft support Skype on Vista. I seem to have foundone solution. I uninstalled Skype and loaded an older version 3.8 but this crashed too. When I put an even older version 2.6, I found it woks fine. Not as sophisticatd a Skype 4, but if you just want to make phone calls, it worksfine. You can get this at Old Version of Skype 3.8.0.188 Download - OldApps.com.
