Remote Desktop Slow
Hi guys,
I have a very strange problem. I have been connecting to a Terminal Services server which runs Windows 2003 R2 using RDP in my Windows Vista Home Premium for about 6 months. The connection runs at a good speed and generally no issues with it. For the second time in the 6 months though, I have hit a period of extremely slow connection. My internet download / upload on average is the same as it always is. Other users who connect to the TS server are not experiencing this problem. I even had a couple of friends test my log in from different locations and they reported a good connection. This makes me think it's my internet but then I can browse internet wihtout any problem and as I said the download / upload speed hasn't changed. As there is no apparent problem with the internet connection, my ISP has not been very helpful in resolving this issue for me. Also, I am not sure why the connection worked perfectly on the same internet connection previously.
I also came across a common issue with Vista on the internet, to do with auto tuning based on bandwidth. I knew that the issue was not related to that either as I have already tested the remote connection with an XP computer on the same internet line and it was still slow. Despite that I have disabled auto tuning in RDP 6.0 but no luck with the speed.
Strange thing is that the connection does get better for a little while at certain times of the day (particularly night) but has generally been really bad for the last four days. The last time I had this problem was a couple of months ago when I went round in circles to resolve the issue with the process of elimination. Nothing worked and the connection just sorted itself out after three days of downtime.
Can anyone please help as I am experiencing great difficulty.
Really appreciated... Hammad
