Intermittent performance problem - disk access related?
I have a media server that I use to record and stream music and video. Since a few weeks it has intermittent severe performance issues, with music and video streaming being interrupted for one to tenth of seconds. When I run resource monitor it shows that disk access during these periods is anomalous. Average access times displayed are in the 100's to 1000s of msec and disk accesses take place in short burst with intervals with no access at all of 5-10 seconds. Music and video are streamed from separate drives, but the behavior is the same, leading me to believe that this is a SW problem.
