explorer.exe hangs (opening my documents etc)

Acer Aspire 5630 Laptop,
T5500 Intel Core2 Duo Processor 1.66GHz,
2G Ram,
Windows Vista Home Premium x32 (Service Pack 1)

does anyone now why when i click to open documents, or my computer, anything to do with explorer.exe it hangs for at least 5 seconds before displaying contents

would looking at hijackthis logs be of any use, if so i can run a scan and upload one
