how to delete ALREADY DOWNLOADED updates that lock computer on startup
I'm using Vista Ultimate and have had automatic updates enabled as recommened. However, the installation of one or other or both of the 'important' updates described below locks my machine (at the green bar stage) when booting up. I am able to return to Vista via Restore Last Good Configuration but what I return to is the same set up, with the offending updates still sitting there waiting to be updated when I next power down. So, now, if I need to power down for any reason, I find myself back in the same vicious cycle of a failed boot and needing to restore last known good configuration. My question is:
how can I completely remove these two already downloaded problem updates and break this exasperating cycle.

As as result of this experience I have now turned off automatic updates and will in future have to make my own mind up whether or not to install what Microsoft have labelled important updates. However that does not help me resolve this particular problem

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack1 and .NET Framework 3.5. Family Update (KB951847) x86
Update for Windows Vista (KB940510)

I would be most grateful for your advice.
Regards to all
Danny
