can't install software

I have had to rebuild two computers with Vista Business due to hard drive crashes. After putting the OS on the computers and then installing all the updates from the Microsoft website, I added the computers to my SBS2003 domain. I have since tried to install software (Adobe Acrobat Standard v8.1 and Windows Mobile 6.1) and get error messages saying that it can't write to the registry. I have administrative rights to the computer, I have tried installing the software as domain administrator and logged in as a local user. and have turned off UAC. I have even tried to install it in safe mode. What do I have to do to install software on these computers?
