There is nothing you can do to repair Vista without the Disk since you tried installing XP. But your basic problem is in the BIOS settings. Make sure they match the hardware you are running, such as the hard drive type, memory settings etc. Also, clear the BIOS by taking the battery off of the motherboard and clearing it with the jumper on the motherboard. Whatever OS you install, delete the old partions during the install. Download the latest drivers for your motherboard right away when you get into it...including the chipset drivers, video drivers etc. Even better, if you have a another computer you can use, get them before you start the reinstalling.
