Problem installing any Software

Hope somebody can help.

I have recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate from XP. When i have tried to install software i had previously nothing seems to install.

I have tried installing some older games and some newer games eg Tomb Raider Anniversary, and also Office 2003.

The autorun installation will open and when i confirm to start the installation i get various faults from "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly" to absolutely nothing happening at all.

This is so frustrating as everything i am trying to install has already worked before.

If anybody has any suggestions for me they'd be much appreciated.
