Screen gets messed up while watching online video

I tried to find anything on this subject but was unable to using the search function, sorry if I missed it somewhere.

Suddenly, while watching online video's greater than about 5 minutes in length, my screen will go all fuzzy/digital looking. Immediately after this happens the enitre screen will go blank requiring a hard re-boot to fix the issue. Also, my screen saver no longer seems to work at the pre-set 5 min interval.

Nothing new, other than the required updates from Microsoft were installed on the laptop. I scanned the entire system using Norton but it passed with no viruses found. Does anyone know what the heck is going on?

In my case I think I needed to download a patch for the nvidia driver. Sorry, it's been a long time and I can't reall remember.
