screensaver

Hi All ,new to this so please bear with me.Old comp(xp)died so bought this one,Vista Home Premium preinstalled . 2 things I want to ask.I am over 60 ,not senile YET but can't get my head around this system.My screensaver ,set at 10 mins,cuts in when doing scans,and stops them.Is the only solution to put on a longer time before doing scans?2nd thing ,my son set up comp AND DIDN'T MAKE A BACK UP DISK of Vista system.Have spoken to PC World and they have said that they can do it for me (charged) but is there any way I can do it .Appreciate ANY help.

the screensaver issueyou could turn the time back to say 15 mins...LCD screens dont get hurt like the old monitors did so you will be ok.

and the backup all you need to do is go into the control panel and find the backup restore menu.....then just follow the directions.
