I desperately need help!
I ran an update that popped up, installed it, and restarted the computer. My computer restarted fine and started to run the installation then about half-way through it crashed to a blue crash dump screen. Now I cannot boot windows, and it takes me directly to the "windows failed to start" screen with option to launch startup repair. Here is what I've tried
1) startup repair - takes me to blue screen "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...etc"
2) safe mode - same blue screen
3) last successful boot - loops on the windows loading bar
4) start from vista disc included when I bought the pc - i can get to the point where I have to press any key to start from the disk, it shows the windows loading bar, but ends up at the same blue screen before i can get the language select.
Can anyone help me? My only real concern is recovering a single word document (the only one I didn't backup before the crash), so even if I'm going to have to completely re-load vista, I just need to recover this one document. If you don't know a way for me to fix it without completely wiping my files, maybe you know a way for me to recover it through networking to my working pc? Anything will help!
Thanks
