Messenger Live troubleshooting / VISTA
I had to restore my computer some weeks back and ever since I have not been able to sign in to Messenger Live.
The following is the chain of events.
"IP Address is invalid" error code 80048820, extended error 80048418.
I have then followed the following instructions
"This typically means something is wrong with your security layer.
You may want to check that the time and date set on your computer is set correctly. Check to make sure that both the time and date are correct.
Additionally, the libraries which allow encryption have been damaged and need to be re-registered. To re-register them, click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK.
and do the same for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll"
Well I performed the first .dll command, but regsvr32 wintrust.dll gives me error code 0x80070005 which is, apparently, an error with the update (number/version ??)
I unintalled Messenger and reinstalled the latest version, but the above all still seem to be present.
I went on the Microsoft website and they want £46+VAT to discuss the matter... Their error code, but they want me to pay them for it...great scam BG.
Anyone have any idea what to do, because I have friends across the globe that I can't communicate with until this is resolved.
