Vista Crashes + Logs

Right, i'm running Windows Vista 32bit on a Dell Dimension 9200.

About once / twice a day it randomly freezes and needs to be physically powered off then turned on again to make it work again.

I'm not too familiar with Vista's error reporting, but have looked in the Event viewer and have come out with only these as level "Error":

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

Any ideas? I dont know if this information is even relevant, but as I said its the only "Error" from the crash time.

I've just come out from under a series of crashes. Two things seemed to have created separate problems. First, Itunes 8 (the original installation) caused some serious hangs and crashes. I uninstalled it and the several programs that came along with it and installed iTunes 7 from an old set of program files.
Second, McAfee Security Suite was causing problems. I had to:
1 uninstall McAfee after I downloaded and installed Java
2 run the McAfee clean up package (downloadable from McAfee)
3 clear out all cookies and history
4. download and reinstall McAfee

I got help with the McAfee stuff (about 6 steps) from McAfee's online free tech support. Once I did all the things they said to do, the problem has been solved. No more hangs and no more crashes.
Weird...took 3 weeks to figure it all out...it seems that the iTunes somehow messed a bunch of files that messed up the McAfee.
I'd even formatted hard drive and reinstalled Vista and all drivers (even updated BIOS) all to no avail until I fixed the McAfee.
