Fixing a Corrupt Recycle Bin
I am running Vista Home Premium 32bit on my Gateway notebook since March 2007. A few days ago, the following started appearing on bootup: "The Recycle Bin on c:\ is corrupted. Do you want to empth the Recycle Bin for this drive?
The recycle bin does not allow you to delete any items, and this error box keeps appearing on boot up. I have tried the following:
1. Changed the settings in Recycle Bin so that items are deleted directly instead of going through the recycle bin. This did not stop the error.
2. Installed Windows SP1 and every update for Vista from the Micro soft website.
3. Ran a Chkdsk and a Scan Disk.
4. Opened an elevated command prompt window and ran the following: rd/s/q/C:$Recycle.bin
None of this has resolved the error message I listed above. I am fresh out of ideas.
Anyone have any suggestions ??
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and respond if you have an idea.
