iTunes and Sound Device irritant

This issue is driving me crazy. When I change sound devices, from speakers to headsets, I have to exit and reenter iTunes for it to 'take'. I realize that the workaround is easy, but I grit my teeth everytime I run into this. Anyone know how to fix this?
