Server is busy error in MS Windows Device Sync Center

I have yet to be able to sync my AT&T 8525 smart phone with my Windows Vista Home Premium OS. I am shown that the device is connected; but, then the "Server is busy" error continues repeating for hours at a time, until I disconnect the device and try something else.

How do I fix this problem which should have been taken care of by MS before they ever shipped the OS? I'm fed up with MS; and, am moving to Apple whenever I get the money to get a Mac.
