Windows Media Player Wont work with vista

Ok i have or Had windows media player 11 on my PC the one that works with vista but recently i tried to open it and it says. "Windows cannot find 'C\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." So i thought no bigge ill just redownload it so i redownload it but when i go to install it, it says "There is a more recent version of windows media player (11.0.6000.6324) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (11.0.5721.5145) to install files or to repair your current version of the player." So i thought ok this is not problem ether i can just go to programs and just delete windows media player from my pc and so i go i see it but once i click on uninstall it says you need premission to do this and ask do i want to continue so i hit continue and...nothing happens at all it looks like its about to load something but then dose absolutly nothing. Can anyone help me with this?
