I recently started getting stop error *** STOP: 0x0000005c (0x0000010b, 0x00000003, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) after I woke up in the morning, and my cat knocked a glass off my end table onto my laptop(The lid was closed & glass was empty). Also, the night before I passed out with it on my lap while playing Prince of Persia, and when I woke up the machine was frozen, so I just shut it down holding the power button. Closed the lid once it shut down, then put it in direct target for the glass. Because of this I'm not sure if I did something in my sleep, or if the shock of the glass hitting the thing messed it up. It's an Acer Aspire 5520-5865 and came with Windows Vista Home Premium. If I turn the laptop on with it being plugged in, the screen stays black for several minutes, and then the power turns off after several minutes, and it turns back on again and does the same thing over and over again. I have to press and hold the power button for it to actually turn off, and if I unplug the power cord from the computer once it has shut down, and turn it back on, the Acer splash screen comes up, but then after a couple more min I get the stop error. If I shut it down again with the power button after getting stop error(leaving it unplugged), the splash screen comes up again, but this time it asks me if I want to try to repair windows, or start normally. The keyboard doesn't work for me to choose which option, so it automatically goes to repair. It then goes on to say it can't repair it. If I cancel the repair, windows actually starts normally though. This is fine and dandy, but my keyboard and pointing device don't work at all now. If I use a usb mouse it works fine, but it's frustrating to type using the Tablet PC input. It's also frustrating to have to make sure it's unplugged to startup. Anyway, I'm just curious if anyone out there has any ideas.
EDIT: I also installed windows update the day before It stopped working. I'll hopefully find an answer somewhere else in the forum.
