Second monitor not recognized
This Christmas, I received a Gateway Notebook as a gift. For the most part, I've been very happy with it. However, one problem I still haven't solved is how to get Windows Vista to recognize a second monitor.

I've read other people's posts on other forums, but none of the advice they received seems to work for me. Here are the specifics of what I'm trying to do:

* My laptop has an S-Video Out (7-pin) and a VGA Out.
* I would like to get the S-Video Out to connect to the Composite In (RCA connector) of a TV set. In the past, I've done this using an S-Video to Composite converter. I still have that converter along with a Composite cable.
* If I can't get the S-Video Out working, I would at least like to be able to get the VGA Out to connect to the VGA In of a projector.

This should be very simple. It took about 5 seconds to do this on a Mac, or maybe a full minute if you forgot exactly how to do it. But here are a list of things that I've tried to no avail.

* Connecting the laptop to the TV with the TV turned on, then restarting the laptop.
* Using the Windows Mobility Center's "Connect display" button that lets you search for an external display.
* Right-clicking the desktop, selecting "Personalize Desktop," selecting Display Options, and trying various things, including going to the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver dialog.

If it helps, my video adapter is a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset, and my OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. Any advice, links, etc would be greatly appreciated. This was so simple on my old laptop, and it's such a helpful task that I'm sure there must be a way to do it with this hardward and software.

It looks like your Video Card is not able to work with Dual Displays in Vista

from an Intel doucment...

Two or more display devices (e.g. LVDS, DVI-I, DVI-D, HDTV, TV-out, CRT, Flat Panel, etc.)

Microsoft Windows* 2000 or Windows* XP

Current version of the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver installed for the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family.
