Error 1935 w/Office Install
Vista has reduced me to tears. I have been trying for 2 days to install Office Enterprise 07, and everything else has gone wrong since! I wanted to restore the system but then it all crashed. I got a link to a blog on how to sort out the backup failure message and it was just the ticket... but..

Don't suppose anyone knows how to fix a MS Office 2007 install issue?? Getting an error 1935 I have removed MS Works from my computer, all Office updates that it had found, some of Microsoft.NET files would not go away cos of the UAC layer! Didn't know whether to delete that entire file, or just the individual versions in the frames file inside

But I am ready to scream!!!

Thanks.

Hi Techie Not,

welcome aboard. Lets get some of your problems sorted...

Please read this MS article about Error 1935... Error message when you try to install a 2007 Office program: "Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component"

It seems that it could be a .NET problem

Tell us how you get on,

regards

Steve

Ok I have been at this 2 days now. I initially did all of that and it didn't work. So, then I Unistalled MS Works incase that was an issue... now I have lost that as I can not find the initial disk I got with my laptop. So, I went to do a backup to an external drive of current items and then the backup crashed.. so I found a blog that sorted that one out.

I did not know whether to remove the file Miscrosoft.NET or go into the file and just remove the v1.1 in the framework file??

Anyway, I tried to remove some of the versions, I could not get Vista to repair it, from the location would not give me uninstall, change, repair options.
C:/windows/microsoft.net/framework These are not in my programs area.

Then I get the UAC message, when I try to delete some of them.

What I was trying to do was delete all of the versions in framework and then re install the program, but I can't get it to work.

Any thoughts?? Thanks!
C

Hi C,

I think the thing to do in this case would be to install the latest .NET files. Please download the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 from Download details: .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86)

This should sort the .NET problem out and then hopefully the Error 1935 problem.

tell us how you get on,

regards

Steve

How to fix this in Vista 64?
The fix listed here does not appear to be for Vista--or Vista Ultimate 64 in my particular case. Vista 64 (and I think the 32-bit version as well) has .Net framework 3.0 as part of the OS--that is, you add/remove it by going to Control panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off, contrary to the instructions in

Error message when you try to install a 2007 Office program: "Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component"

I have tried removing and re-adding "Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0" to no avail so far. I still cannot install MS office 2007, I get the exact error listed in 926804. I cannot add the standalone packages referenced--the packages SAY they work with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, but they actually seem not to. The 32-bit says, sensibly, that it won't run on 64-bit systems, and the 64 bit says that "the package is already installed as part of the operating system".

So, how does one fix this problem in Vista? Anyone know? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks very much for any help.
