The fix listed here does not appear to be for Vista--or Vista Ultimate 64 in my particular case. Vista 64 (and I think the 32-bit version as well) has .Net framework 3.0 as part of the OS--that is, you add/remove it by going to Control panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off, contrary to the instructions in
Error message when you try to install a 2007 Office program: "Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component"
I have tried removing and re-adding "Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0" to no avail so far. I still cannot install MS office 2007, I get the exact error listed in 926804. I cannot add the standalone packages referenced--the packages SAY they work with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, but they actually seem not to. The 32-bit says, sensibly, that it won't run on 64-bit systems, and the 64 bit says that "the package is already installed as part of the operating system".
So, how does one fix this problem in Vista? Anyone know? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks very much for any help.
