Administrator Password!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All,
Thanks in advance for viewing. Heres my problem. My Grandad brought me a laptop that the grandchildren use. Its an old Toshiba Satelite Pro running on Windows Vista Basic. Ideally I would like to format the system and start from scratch but OBVIOUSLY it cant be that easy! He has no format discs and cannot ever remeber making a recovery disc. So what i planned to do was to clear all old programmes and crap the from the system in an aid to speed up and improve the system.

There are three "Users" and one of those is administrator. No-one can remember the password for the administrator account. I cannot remove anything from the other users as they do not have administrator rights.

I have tried "Ophcrack" and "Passowrd Changer" but those programmes arent free!

Is there an easier way or any other free ways of gettin round this??
