I have the Geek Squad Online Backup software installed on a Vista desktop and an XP. I've had problems with the window that appears each time I restart my computer.
Immediately after start up, the Geek Squad window appears with another window inside of that which says: Please wait while your files are updated. I cannot exit that window and ctrl, alt, delete doesn't not stop the updating from continuing.
Meanwhile I cannot access any programs or email on my computer.
After 2 hours of waiting for the updating to finish, I called Geek Squad. Two agents were very helpful, but neither could help me close out or even uninstall the online backup program. One agent thought starting the computer in safe mode and then uninstalling the program would work, but we were unable to do that in safe mode.
They suggested I take my computer to a Best Buy and have them uninstall and then install the program again. It is not shut off.
I don't have that kind of time to drive an hour to the nearest Best Buy and wait for them to fix my computer. If they can do it there, I should be able to fix the problem here if I know what to do.
Can anyone tell me what I can do at the beginning of starting up my computer to uninstall the program or to stop it from opening up immediately on start up? I believe I'd be able to uninstall it then.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
