Re: What is the best antivirus for Vista
I posted before to this thread regarding NOD32, which do not get me wrong is great if you want to pay. But agreeing with other people on the free side of things you cannot go wrong with the free versions of Avast, AVG, Avira or even like phantom mentioned above even Comodo is a great product. Now call me crazy, but I have ran 64 bit Vista Business with it and now also Windows 7 RC, but the security protection program "Security Essientials" from Microsoft is from what I seen so far pretty solid. It runs in the background, provides a simple UI, and updates automatically through Microsoft Updates. Usually the updates are somewhere in the one to a few MB range. It is still in beta stage and I believe Microsoft is no longer accepting new "beta testers," however I think you can still find it on Softpedia or even Google searching for it. I have had no infections or problems yet, it caught all possible threats before they installed or I downloaded them. It was said they have a lesser percentage of false positives too.
