Canadian tax authorities say the good news is that hackers or saboteurs aren't to blame for a computer system breakdown but it'll still be down for days. The bad news is that neither paper nor electronic returns can be processed until the system is back up, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. Officials said that everything will be back to normal in a matter of days, although they carefully avoided saying how many days.Until the problem is resolved, we cannot process returns filed on paper, or returns filed electronically before the system interruption, a Canada Revenue Agency statement said. Refunds will be delayed until processing is resumed.
