Won't print graphics - please help

Hello since recently buying a new laptop which came with Vista home I cannot print graphics from say pdf documents to publisher documents. Everything works fine on xp machines but vista shows the graphics on screen but not after printing. I have an hp 1200d desktop printer. I cant help think its a vista/hp problem rather than a vista/publisher problem. All updates have been done on both office, vista and the printer drivers. Its driving me mad so I hope someone out there has a solution or is it my hp printer is just not compatible with vista? Thanks in advance
