Computer's Onboard NICs disappear from DM on cold bootup... Help please
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64. I've never had any real issues for the last year and a half until now.
When I cold boot my computer the two on-board NICs don't show up in device manager. If I run a scan for hardware changes or I perform a warm reboot, then they reappear. When they reappear they run perfectly without any issues.
I have looked for errors in Device Manager and there are none. When I have looked through my event logs there don't seem to be any anomalies that point towards why the NICs would do this. I also have a mini-pci wireless card and that is working fine and has no issues disappearing like the on-board NICs do. I have tried to delete the NICs and let Windows re-install them but that hasn't worked. I have tried to update the driver but it says that they already are updated. I have made sure that the NICs are not turned off for power management as well. In the beginning before I realized it was my computer I even put a new network cable because I thought the old one had gotten pinched. I have ESET antivirus and I have run it without it finding anything. Windows defender also ran and didn't find anything. I verified volume data through Intel Matrix Storage Manager and no errors were found.
The only thing that I haven't tried yet is a boot up Scan Disk and restoring to a day or two before this started. It started on 3/2/2011.
I am at a loss and don't know what else to try. I cannot find any other answers to my issue. Does anyone else have any suggestions or ideas after reading what I've already tried that may help?
Thank you in advance.
