Vista and Xbox 360 Question

I was trying to set up my Windows Vista Home Premium Media Center PC with My Xbox 360 Media Center Extender, and I was eventually successful. But I do have a quick question. I was only able to get it to work with the following configuration: I have a Cable Modem that is conected to a Netgear WGT624 v3 wireless router. My Windows Vista Home Premium Media Center PC is conected to the router via an ethernet cable. My Xbox 360 Media Center Extender is conected via the microsoft wireless adapter. This conection works and is fine with me. My question is why would it not work with both my PC and 360 connecting via wireless interfaces? The xbox 360 still showed up on my PC in the Network and Sharing Center, but the 360 and Windows Media Center could not find each other. Why is this?
