XP Cannot See Vista PC

I have three XP pc's and one Vista that I am using as a HTPC, the Vista box can ping and see all the other PCs, but none of the XP boxes can see the Vista one, they cannot even ping the (*&*&^). It has worked until I upgraged to SP1.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My Vista box can see and do anything to the other pc's ..(alll others but one are xp, 1 is linux and not a issue.


But the xp's can see each other, no problem, but though the xp's can see the vista box and etc.... I cant get into the files despite setting up the shares & permissions (or so I believe i did)....

These are all wireless (except the linux one, its wired in).

I figure i missed something, but not sure what.

I have the same problem. Vista sees XP but XP can't see Vista. I have the same domain names and a week ago, my XP was seeing Vista fine. I have tried renaming domains and resetting the network but they haven't worked. Any ideas?

My issue was easy to resolve, somehow the checkbox to turn on sharing got unchecked. I marked it off as some update or SP1 that set it back to its original state. Once I turned it back on, it worked fine.

I think thats what solved my Vista--> XP problems..
My Securtiy suite blocked the xp boxs as untrusted.
I changed that to 'trusted', and I can at least see xp's
Havent yet resolved the xp-> Vista direction.

I am assuming its a permissions or 'trust' or secuirty probem ..
and/or my own stupidity. Heh e

you can check try setting exception in vista's firewall for file sharing. this may help you or can check this How to setup LAN between XP and Vista PCs
