NAS & more NAS
All my storage has traditionally been kept on hard drives within the same desktop that serves as my main PC. I'm up to 6 drives now and about 2.5TB. The trouble is that none of this is backed up and I suffered my first drive failure a few weeks ago.
Since then I've been considering ways to set up a network storage system and run the drives in a RAID 1 configuration. Running RAID 1 obviously means I have to double up on drives and to do this in one go would be very expensive for me.
Some of the home NAS systems out there look appealing and are reasonably priced for a beginner but the problem I would run into is capacity.
Can several of these NAS units be added to a system over time, allowing me to build up my storage capacity as I can afford it or would they conflict each other and become unstable?
I don't have a great knowledge of networking so am looking for a simple way of adding network storage that I can affordably expand as the need arises.
