Unable to install dot net frame work 3.5

Hi ,

I am unable to install dot net frame work 3.5 version and windows updates as well.

Error : an error occurred during setup. installed files have been removed
from your computer.for known issues and troubleshooting information.

microsoft .net framework 3.5 has encountered a problem during setup.setup did
not complete correctly.

I have Windows Vista Home Basic and my version is 6.0 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1)

I also have Windows Internet Explorer 7 and my version is 7.0.6001.18000

I also have a 32-bit operating system

I don't know if any of this information is useful, but I also don't have any earlier versions of .net framework. I just have .Net framework 4 client profile and .net 4 extended.

I need help as soon as possible,
