2007 Office security updates

The following updates for microsoft office in vista 32 bit have been failing
to update since March 10 - Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint
2007 (KB982158)
Error details: Code 8007066
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista
(KB982381)
Error details: Code 800736CC
Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB982331)

I too had the same issue using Windows 7 with this particular office update.
The solution via MS technician is to install this update manually, but by
doing so, it will NOT show up in your windows update 'view installed
history.' The install will say 'completed' and you can use 'windows
eventviewer' or windows update.log to insure that it installed successfully.

1. using internet address bar, type in or copy
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
2. in the Bing search bar @ top of screen, type in the exact kb number (in
this case kb976321); one result should show up
3. click on kb, then on download. After installing, the installer will say
it installed completely.
4. RE-boot and use windows update to check that no additional updates are
available. In this case, KB976321

I had the same problem which started about 3 months ago with all MS Office
products on Windows 7. The solution via MS rep is to manually install each
update. By doing so, they will NOT show up in your 'view update history'.
Here is the link:

Type in each KB update in the search bar then download and run the
application. It will say the installation completed after doing so. Don't
forget to 'agree' to MS licensing message. otherwise some may not install.
After finishing, use MS update again to re-check that there are no updates
available. I had however, KB982331 show up again, but when I said to install
it again (manually) MS said it was already installed. So I just 'hid' the
upgrade so that it would no longer show. I know there is a way to fix this
constant offering of the same upgrade, but I don't know how to do it. Good
