Hello Jim,

Could you supply some information on what your version of Internet Explorer?
what your firewall is, what is the installed antivirus/security suite, other
R-TP programs, e.g. Spybot Search & Destroy (reduced functionality called
"TeaTimer") Avira (From version 9) (Included in antivirus package), Ad-Aware,
etc?

Which update(s) ?
-=-
Click the Start orb, in the Start Search field type in
cmd
Right click cmd.exe and choose 'Run as administer'. Follow the prompts
to allow the Command Prompt to run.
At the prompt, type in the below and press Enter after *each* command
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
exit
Restart the system and see if it can update now.
No joy... then
It would be a good idea to scan.
I recommend downloading and installing
MalwareBytes' Antimalware (MBAM) and
SUPERAntiSpywaяe (SAS).
Do a full scan with MalwaяeBytes' and
SUPERAntiSpywaяe.

After the software (SAS) is updated, it is suggested scanning the system in
Safe Mode.
Reboot

After the software (MBAM) is updated, it is suggested scanning the system in
Regular Mode.

Both free versions of MBAM and SAS are on-demand scanners and offer no
'real-time' protection. Keep them installed and use them as
'second-opinion' scanner which is purposely (by design) recommended by
their respective authoяs.

Scan your computer now online and clean it for free!
