Re: Security Update for Windows XP (KB975561)
What remedies have you tried?

Are you running WinXP SP2 or SP3?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

Have you run the Fix It on this page?...

How to determine whether a computer is compatible with security update

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980966/

Have you read the "How to obtain help..." and "Known Issues" section of
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977165?

And the error code is? Any indications in the "KB975561.log" file placed
in the Windows folder?

> Tried several MS remedies but to no avail.
