That means that messenger cannot connect to the Windows messenger service. It may go away tomorrow, or it may be some setting in the computer.

Try this first:
Go to start- run and type

Services.msc

Then find:

"Dcom Server Process Launcher"

Right mouse click, goto Properties.

Set to "Automatic", apply, and then click "Start".

Click ok.
if it saycould not start the DCOM server process launcher on local computer.
Error 1053: the server did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion

then try this
Start > Run > type in sfc /scannow

sfc then space then /scannow

then try again.
