WINDOWS UPDATE PAGE FAILS TO LOAD
I have XP Home SP3. I get the error message that the Windows Update page
fails to load when trying to install the Updater Software. I have Auto
Updates Turned on (to notify me when updates are available to install). I
have spent the last 2 hours searching forums and KB's and have found quite a
bit of info on this issue if you are running Vista, but not if you are
running XP (at least not any that's current). I added the https update
website to trusted sites. I'm not sure when this problem started because I"ve
just noticed that I haven't seen anything on updates for quite awhile.. I ran
a full system scan last night and do not have any infections.. I've hd this
PC for 6 years and never had a problem with updates before.
Thank you for your time.

Re: WINDOWS UPDATE PAGE FAILS TO LOAD
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

Are KB972270 and KB978207 both listed in Add/Remove Programs (after making
sure the Show Updates box at the top is checked)?
