SP r wont install on XP

I am having trouble getting sp3 to install. I am able to install other
updates and they all installed fine except SP3 and HID data filter. I have a
dell 400 sc with a 2.4 ghz proc, 2mb ram XP pro. no virus prog installed or
running . I uninstalled avg to see if that was the issue. I tried ti HID fix
and registered the file iin the kb and no go. Needing to know the next sstep.

* How long has there been " no virus program " ? *
When was the last time the system was scanned for the presence of malware ?
