I read a little bit deeper into Microsofts explanation for this error
(there isn't one), but I did glean a resolution to updating Windows
Defender. Here is a link taking you to the Microsoft site where you can
manually download and install the updates. It worked perfectly for me:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923159/

Pardon the french assinine idiot, but I just came across the problem.
And where were you three years ago? If you're so smart, why didn't you
put up a resolution three years ago? I wouldn't have had to find the
resolution myself. If you haven't had the problem then shut up. If you
do have the problem then hey, it's fixed, isn't it, you idiot?

It kills me to have to keep educating the morons who can't read. First of
all, moron, I'm replying to you assuming your response is to me. Having not
quoted any of the previous message for all to read, you've achieved moron
status 2.0. You're not posting only to Techarena. Your stupidity has been
posted to microsoft.public.windowsupdate, a newsgroup.

....and yes, I will pardon you.
