KB976749 Problem
IE 8.0.6001.18828
Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit

Okay... update automagically restarted my computer in the middle of the night. First problem, couldn't open large psds in Photoshop elements 6. Finally put the RAM up higher and that worked, but now having another problem that may or may not be related to update (given how many things I tried in order to fix the crashing when opening a psd problem). Had been using this program for a couple of years without issue before update.

Next, ACDSee photo manager 2009 can't find database location like it used to. Had been using this program without this problem for years on a daily basis. <--- problem solved, not related to update.

(Note - both of these databases are located on an external hard drive if this makes any difference)

Now I don't have any restore points before the update - no restore point for the update. I'm going to have to uninstall the update I guess.

Never had a problem like this before with any updates. Had both of these programs open when the update took place and restarted the computer. Any help appreciated.

Re: KB976749 Problem
My best guess: coincidence, or a consequence of the programs being forcibly
restarted. Try uninstalling the update and see if the problems go away. Let us
know what happens and we may be able to provide further advice.

Note: it is always preferable to uninstall an update, if possible, rather than
using system restore. System Restore should be considered as a last resort only
if an update cannot be removed any other way.

Harry.
