accessing microsoft updates and downloads

Anything I try to download (even using help) from microsoft, I get the
following:

iedw.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point RemoveControlByHandle2 could not be located in the
dynamic link library OCCACHE.dll.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Start by disclosing your OS and version of IE.

FWIW it looks like you have a corrupted IE.
If it is supposed to be IE7 or IE8 try seeing what happens
if you Run... (press Win-R and enter

iexplore.exe -nohome -extoff
