Windows Restore/Update history?

For reasons I don't understand, my computer is constantly (I mean at least
once a day, sometimes more often) using the automatic restore feature when I
start, even though I shutdown "normally". Same on restart. Now, it shows
only Windows updates from over a week ago. How do I find and install more
recent updates. It keeps saying my system is up to date, but I'm just about
certain it's not.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Are you seeing a prompt similar to "Windows encountered a problem with your
settings and has restored your previous settings" when you boot?
