Code 6D9E While installing "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edit

Hallo:
I have Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed on my Compaq Presario
B1255TU Laptop.
It also had Office 2007 pre-installed on it. I uninstalled Office 2007 with
its Business Contact Manager (while keeping theSQL Server 2005 Express
edition) and then ran the Windows updater. The updater suggested me that I
need to install "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition". While installing
this update, I got an error code 6D9E and the update could not be installed.
I tried to seach relevant help, but did not get any.
Can Microsoft help in solving this problem.

Hint: the code is in hex; you can also search for its decimal equivalent...

Thanks a lot. I uncompressed the directory "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server" and tried once again. This time it got installed.
