I talked with ATT on the phone about the cancellation of Usenet
Access. The person I talked to had never heard of Usenet! But after
some research he quoted an internal memo that the cancellation was
only in the "Pac Bell Area" which includes San Francisco and LA and
not in the midwest (Ameritech area) where I am.
