proble with update .net framework

Every time I get a Windows update that has any file to do with Microsoft
..net framework it fails to install. All other update are OK. Is there a
common fault with these files, please.

The most common reasons for .NET update installation failures are:

1) Indiscriminate use of registry 'repair' programs
2) Indiscriminate use of 3rd party disk 'clean up' tools
3) Security software [antivirus and 3rd party firewalls]
