windows wont update

i have windows vista and on the windows update it wont install the updates
and wont check for new updates since 11-08 What can i do to fix this

it's checking for updates it gives the error of 80070643 i clicked on this
and fixed the problem I have done this a few times now

You receive error code 0x80070643 or error code 0x643 when you use the
Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates
