Windows Update and other problems

I am like a lot of you that have trouble updating. Let me tell you mine and
hopefully, someone will help me out. I had to reload windows vista and ever
since, I cannot get to update. I can not even go to any of the microsoft
pages. I keep getting the message that "I am not connected to internet" of
course I am. Every page that belongs to microsoft is unavailable. Every
thing else works fine and even the MS pages were fine until the
reinstallation. Someone, PLEASE help.
